About Kevin Kisner

Kevin James Kisner was born on February 15, 1984, in Aiken, South Carolina, where he was raised and continues to reside. Kisner’s parents, Steve and Christy Kisner, both attended Harding High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, before settling in Aiken.

Kevin Kisner was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, where he attended South Aiken High School. Kisner’s academic and athletic journey led him to the University of Georgia.

Early Career

Kisner’s amateur career flourished during his time at South Aiken High School, where he was a key member of the Thoroughbred team.

His performance in high school golf solidified his reputation as a top recruit in South Carolina. Opting to continue his golfing journey out of state, Kisner chose to attend the University of Georgia over in-state options.

At Georgia, he became the university’s first four-time All-American, despite never winning an individual college event. His collegiate career peaked in his junior year when he contributed to the Bulldogs’ team victory in the NCAA Championship.

Professional Career

After turning professional in 2006, Kisner began his journey on the mini-tours, playing on the NGA Hooters Tour and the Tarheel Tour from 2007 to 2009.

In 2009, Kisner got a taste of the Nationwide Tour, participating in 6 events. The following year, he played the Nationwide Tour full-time and secured a win at the Mylan Classic.

However, Kisner’s initial years on the PGA Tour were challenging. In 2011, he failed to earn enough money to retain his card, finishing 181st on the money list. Despite this setback, he managed to secure his card for the 2012 season through qualifying school.

The struggle continued as he again failed to retain his card in 2012, finishing 167th on the money list and narrowly missing out on regaining his card in qualifying school by just one stroke.

Determined to bounce back, Kisner returned to the Web.com Tour (formerly the Nationwide Tour) in 2013 and won the Chile Classic in March. His performance throughout the season was consistent, and he finished 13th on the regular season money list, which was sufficient to earn his 2014 PGA Tour card.

Kisner’s persistence paid off, and his breakthrough on the PGA Tour came in 2015 when he finished runner-up three times, each time losing in sudden-death playoffs. His first PGA Tour victory came at The RSM Classic in 2015, a win that solidified his status as a PGA Tour winner.

Following his initial victory, Kisner continued to perform well, winning the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational in 2017 and the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play in 2019. In 2021, he added another title to his resume by winning the Wyndham Championship.
